Nigeria Idol Season 3 Kicks Off

The Season III of the reality TV show, Nigeria Idol organised by Optimum Media Group (OMG) and chiefly sponsored by the innovative telecommunications service provider, Etisalat Nigeria will soon hit the screens as the audition begins in October.

Speaking at the event to unveil the plans for the season III edition of the programme, the Chief Executive Officer, Optimum Media Group, Rotimi Pedro explains “the season III is very important for us as the franchise of the show has enjoyed the love of Nigerians as the most watched reality TV show courtesy our sponsors”.

Mr. Pedro reveals that the franchise is growing worldwide as the first Nigeria TV show to be aired in about 16 countries. “With the international franchise, we want to unveil to the world those talents that lives and are hidden among us”, he enthuses.

“Nigeria Idol started in 2010 to offer international talents and creativity among Nigerian youths and we have recorded great successes in youth participation. 6,000 contestants were auditioned in season I while 10,000 were auditioned in season II. The show had over 2 million interactive SMS in the last season, over 40,000 Facebook followers and over 10,000 tweeter followers” He claims

In his words, the Chief Commercial Officer, Etisalat Nigeria, Wael Ammar stated that “the partnership with OMG is to contribute to the development of music in Nigeria, motivate the youths and to remain customer focus with innovative ideas”.

Through the reality show, the Chief Commercial Officer says “Etisalat wants to empower Nigeria youths to ‘be the voice of tomorrow’ that is the major reason we put our weight behind this show to bring value and innovation into the industry. The winners of season I & II have really inspired us to continue in the sponsorship”.

The next Nigerian Idol will win a grand prize N20 million, which will be paid in installment of recording contract and career development, release of first single and final release of an album.

The auditioning for season III will take place in six selected cities of Nigeria; Abuja 13th October, Port Harcourt 20th October, Owerri 27th October, Benin City 3rd November and Lagos 10th November. Yeka Onka and Mercy Chinwo emerged  winners of season I and II respectively.
