LaPRIGA 2019: Brand Communicator, Reporter, Others Emerged Big Winners

It was double honours for Brand Communicator, Nigeria’s most consistent brand and marketing communications magazine, as it won the prestigious PR Magazine of the year for the third consecutive time at Lagos PR Industry Gala and Awards (LaPRIGA).

Also, it’s Senior Reporter, Azeez Disu, a consummate journalist, emerged PR Journalist of the year. Recall, he recently clinched the Brand Journalist of the Year at 2019 ADVAN Awards for Marketing Excellence (West Africa).

LaPRIGA is organised by the flagship chapter of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Lagos NIPR Chapter and the event was held at the Grand Ballroom, Civic Center, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The prestigious award is a great networking platform attracting the creme de la creme from different sectors and has evolved to become the communications industry Oscars, adding new colours, dimensions and values to the industry by recognizing best accomplishments in reputation management, relationship management and support for marketing functions.

In a message to Brand Communicator on the award, the chapter noted: “On behalf of the selection panel of the 2019 LaPRIGA, we are delighted to inform you that the Brand Communicator has been nominated to be decorated as the PR Magazine of the year-the highest honour reserved for publications who excelled in upholding the highest professional standard in publishing and journalism that informs, entertains and educates engaging minds, building relationships, transforming marketing decisions and impacting the future.”

Similarly, in a message to Azeez Disu, the chapter wrote: “On behalf of the selection panel of the 2019 LaPRIGA, we are delighted to inform you of your nomination to receive the coveted honours as the PR Journalist of the year 2019 in recognition of depth of writings on public relations and commitment to the highest professional standard in journalism that engage minds and building relationships.”

Reacting to the win, an excited Publisher of Brand Communicator and CEO of Awesome Communications, Joshua Ajayi, noted that the recognition from the Lagos NIPR for the third consecutive year is an honour and a testament to the consistency and value Brand Communicator provides the industry.

It is noteworthy that Brand Communicator is the organiser of Women in Marketing and Communications Conference/Awards (WIMCA), the largest gathering of female marketing and communications professionals in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. It is also the organisers of BRANDCOMFEST, the largest gathering of brands and marketing communications professionals in Nigeria.

Other winners of the corporate category include: CMC Connect which won the best place to work award and Model Agency of All Time award for employing global best practices and processes for a variety of communication projects.

Best Digital PR Agency of the year went to ID Africa for its proficiency in using the new media to engage target audiences. Meanwhile, for its creativity, service delivery and relevance in the industry employing global best practices and processes for a variety of communication project, Mediacraft& Associates was crowned the PR Consultancy of the year.

Excitingly, Best innovation in PR Practice went to Black House Media; Outstanding House Journal went to The Voyage by NIMASA; MTN Nigeria went home with two awards which include: Best in Crisis Management and Excellence in Internal Communication.

Similarly, OANDO emerged winner of Excellence in Community Relations while Nigerian Breweries clinched the Best Corporate Communications team (private sector) and International Breweries emerged Best Company in Environmental Sustainability.

Lafarge Africa clinched the best company in infrastructure Development; Access Bank emerged Best Company Promoting Gender Equality & Women Empowerment; Lifebuoy emerged Best Brand in Storytelling; and Infinix won Mobile Lifestyle Brand of the year.

For the individual category; PR Practitioner of the year went to John Ehiguese; Basil Agboarumi clinched Bob Ogbuagu Leadership Award for positively impacting the profession and inspiring younger practitioners.

Lifetime Achievement Award went Ralph Akinfeleye for his significant contributions to communications practice and media. Also, Fassy Adetokunbo was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his significant contributions to public relations and public affairs practice.

OdionAleobua emerged Rising PR Practitioner of the year while Best Financial Reporter of the Year went to GoddyEgene and Photojournalist of the year went to Femi Kuti.
