
Nigeria’s largest e-commerce site, JUMIA has announced the first-ever conference that would focus on the accelerated growth of e-commerce within the region and the growth of the next generation of African entrepreneurs.
The event, scheduled to hold on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, would create a forum of discussion and mutual exchange between ministers, CEO’s, suppliers, customers, media, and various fashion and lifestyle celebrities.
“We want to share our knowledge and bring all those who will shape Nigeria in the future to one table, to discuss the possibilities and options e-commerce holds for Nigeria, said Tunde Kehinde, Co-founder and Managing Director of JUMIA Nigeria.
The conference keynote is expected to be delivered by the Honourable Minister for Communications Technology, Mrs. Omobola Johnson, who would speak on the theme: “E-Commerce and Information Communications Technology – An Engine for Job Creation and Economic Growth”.
Other keynote speakers and panel participants would include Tayo Oviosu, CEO of Pagatech; Juliet Nwanguma, Head of eBanking at Zenith Bank; Titilola Shogaolu, Chief Payment and Value Added Services Officer; Randy Buday, Managing Director of DHL Nigeria; and Simi Osinuga, Head of eBusiness at GTBank.
After the conference, JUMIA would be celebrating its 1st anniversary with a fashion cocktail gala, where fashion available on the site will be on display. The company launched in June 2012 and offers everything from fashion, consumer electronics, home appliances to beauty products.
