Indomie Instant Noodles, from the stables of Dufil Prima Foods plc, has once again added another feather to its crown by clinching the Product Excellence Award category in the maiden edition of the Nigeria Consumer Award (NiCA) organised by the Consumers Protection Council.

Indomie was bestowed with the award at a ceremony held at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, having emerged winner among other notable brands shortlisted for the category.

Indomie emerged winner through votes by consumers, which was verified and authenticated by an award verification panel made up of members drawn from the Nigerian Labour Congress, the media, Organised Private Sector, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, the Nigerian Communications Commission, and the National Association of Nigerian Students.

According to Ify Umenyi, director-general, CPC, “the Nigeria Consumer Award (NiCA) is an initiative instituted by the Agency to bestow honour and recognition on corporate bodies that have offered products and services adjudged by the consuming public as embodying the highest standards.”

Umenyi noted that the maiden edition of the awards features 14 categories which include: Service Excellence Awards, Product Excellence Awards, Consumer Rights Advocacy Awards, Corporate Social Responsibility Awards amongst others and the designation of some eminent Nigerians as Consumer Ambassadors.

In his remarks at the ceremony, Olusegun Aganga, chief host of the awards, and minister of trade and investment, who was represented at the ceremony by the minister of state in the ministry, Samuel Ortom, explained that the need to ensure adequate protection for Nigerian consumers couldn’t be over emphasized, and urged manufacturers, brand custodians as well as service providers operating in the country to ensure that Nigerians are given the best in terms of products and service delivery at all times.

Receiving the award for Indomie, Tope Ashiwaju, public relations manager, Dufil Prima Foods, noted that the CPC’s product excellence award conferred on Indomie would further reinforce and reaffirm its leadership status as the number one noodles brand in Nigeria.

Ashiwaju described the award as a very symbolic honour for the brand in the recent past, and one of the most important recognition in the history of the company “not only because it is awarded by a highly revered government agency like the CPC, but also the quality and integrity of the verification panel.”

While dedicating the award to the numerous esteemed consumers of Indomie Instant Noodles, Ashiwaju thanked the consumers for their unalloyed loyalty and support for the brand over the years. He then assured that the brand would continue to maintain excellence and world-class standards in the quality of its products.
