Just weeks after making headlines for a lavish lifestyle that included reportedly gifting his girlfriend a luxury Bentley, Zimbabwean businessman Richard Simanga Ngwenya has found himself at the centre of a very different kind of public attention.
According to documents circulating online, Ngwenya was arrested in Sandton in connection with an alleged fraud investigation. The documents identify him as a suspect in a Sandton case and include a South African Police Service (SAPS) case reference.
The development has sparked widespread discussion on social media, where users have begun revisiting old videos and photos showcasing his luxury lifestyle. Comment sections have quickly filled with questions about the source of his wealth, although no court has made findings regarding those claims.

Ngwenya became well known online after videos of expensive gifts and luxury vehicles attracted significant attention across Zimbabwean and South African social media. Now, the focus has shifted from displays of wealth to the legal proceedings that may follow.
