Patoranking & Victoria Kimani Go Head-To-Head In Season Two Premiere Of Lip Sync Battle

MTV Base sets the tone for a new season of Lip Sync Battle Africa, with a sizzling face-off between dancehall king Patoranking and Chocolate City first lady Victoria Kimani.

Lip Sync Battle Africa returns to our TV screens on MTV Base (DStv channel 322 on Saturday 22 April 2017).

Season 2 promises more bops, more booty hops, more mic drops, more shade thrown and more sultry poses for viewers to savour as celebrities and entertainers from Nigeria and across the continent dance, dab and diss to a soundtrack of chart-topping hits – all while striving to earn the Lip Sync Battle Africa winner’s belt.

This time around, more than 30 of the continent’s hottest celebrities and entertainers will be strutting their stuff in front of the captivated Lip Sync Battle studio audience.  Among the revealed  Nigerian contestants are Tekno, Falz and Simi. As is customary, the stars will be joined on stage by dancers and decked out in the most outrageous outfits, wigs and props imaginable.

Irresistible screen queen Pearl Thusi returns home to resume her hosting role for a second season, aided and abetted by flamboyant Nigerian TV star, and former Lip Sync Battle Africa contestant, Denrele Edun.

Lip Sync Battle Africa (season 2) premieres on MTV Base (DStv channel 322) on Saturday 22 April 2017 at 8PM.

About Lip Sync Battle

Launched on 2 April 2015 on Viacom-owned network Spike, global hit Lip Sync Battle (US) was based on an original idea pioneered by, hosted by LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen. To date, the format has extended to three seasons, and spawned local versions in Canada, Chile, China, Hungary, Indonesia, Lebanon, Mexico, The Phillippines, Poland, South Africa, the UK and Vietnam.  Among the many celebrities to battle in the show have been Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, John Legend, Kaley Cuoco, Mike Tyson, Lupita Nyong’o, Jay Leno, Craig Ferguson, Sarah Hyland, Laverne Cox, Don Cheadle, Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson, with guest appearances from celebrities from Beyoncé to Nicole Scherzinger, Ma$e, J-Lo, Nelly and The Backstreet Boys, among many others.  In July 2016, the show received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in the Outstanding Structured Reality Program category.


About Lip Sync Battle Africa

The first African localised version of Lip Sync Battle Africa launched in South Africa in April 2016.  Hosted by Pearl Thusi and D’Banj, the show saw epic battles between celebrity names from across the continent including Yemi Alade, Diamond Platnumz, Boity Thulo, Cassper Nyovest and more.
