Following the launch of MTN’s new thematic campaign with slogan “We know what keeps businesses up. Let’s talk” targeting Nigerian businesses, the Information Communication Technology company has stayed true to its word by allowing signed up SMEs display their products/businesses for free in its one-of-a-kind outdoor advertising platform located at Oriental Hotel, Lagos.
The campaign which broke a little over a week ago with a teaser featuring a smartly-dressed gentleman working day-and-night, come rain and sunshine in what appeared to be an office in a billboard had Lagosians guessing and debating over social media for days. The hashtag #maninthebox was deployed to drive online conversations around the man in the box who depicted MTN working round-the-clock to enable businesses succeed.
MTN was eventually revealed 4 days later to be behind the brilliantly executed publicity stunt and the campaign was said to be aimed at raising public awareness about MTN’s ability to cater to the communication, collaboration and connectivity needs of all businesses – start-ups, small medium and large-scale enterprises, and public sector organizations.
The SMEs began occupying the box on Monday, May 14th 2018 with fashion brand for plus size women, Makioba being the first. The fashion brand advertised its products in the box allowing visibility of millions of commuters on the VI-Lekki expressway.
The box has also been occupied by leather goods brand, Nichole by Haguanna, confectionaries brand Flaykes Delight and Food & catering brand Cocktail Connoisseur. SMEs are encouraged to register for a chance to showcase their brand in the box via www.mtnbusiness.com.ng/maninth
