The posh Skyview Restaurant of Oriental Hotel, Lagos, was agog with excitement as ex England and Arsenal legend, Ray Parlour breezed into town.
Parlour, a member of the famous Arsenal Invincibles and a three time EPL winner was a part of a delegation from Arsenal FC that arrived Nigeria for a special three day clinic for coaches and children. The clinic was organized as part of the ongoing MTN/Arsenal partnership.
Before leading a special team of Arsenal coaches on the football clinic, Parlour, alongside other coaches from Arsenal were hosted to a special dinner and Meet and Greet session with MTN Staff and senior Sports Editors.
The Dinner turned out to be an evening of fine wining and dinning as Parlour, regaled guests with stories of his exploits in the English Premiership. The Arsenal Legend was also treated to a good special dance competition by the editors.
An obviously excited Parlour was full of praise for MTN and Arsenal for bringing the unique football experience to lovers of the game.
According to him: “It’s obvious that Nigerians love their football and I think it’s commendable that Arsenal and MTN are coming together to bring this unique football experience to people of the country. I am very happy to be here and I can’t wait to meet the young lads and the coaches at the football clinic,”
Also speaking on the partnership, Tunde Folawiyo, Executive Director, MTN Nigeria, stated that the MTN/Arsenal partnership would “Beyond being a telecoms service provider, MTN is also an enabler of the passion of its more than 50m subscribers. Football happens to be a passion point of Nigerians across the country and we are delighted to work with Arsenal towards fueling their passion for the game”.
